Summary

Metal-detecting recovered finds dating from the Late Saxon to the post-medieval period. These include a Late Saxon terminal with 'Ringerike' style decoration, an unfinished medieval belt end and a 14th century shield-shaped plate mount. Post-medieval coins and a Dutch coin weight were also recorded. Metal-detecting in 2011 recovered medieval and post-medieval coins, post-medieval jettons and post-medieval metal objects including a scallop-shell-shaped stirrup fragment.

Full description

December 1991. Metal-detecting finds.
Charles I shilling 1628 to 1629. Tower mint. Reverse: Christo Auspice Regno shield.
Charles I half crown 1643 to 1646. Mint mark missing. Reverse: oval garnished shield.
Coin weight - symbol of hand. 82 C1 Netherlands, Amsterdam 17th/18th century. Weight 1.96gms. See (S1).

Late Saxon terminal of unknown object, Ringerike-style trefoil 'lobe' and slightly off-set shank fragment. See (S1).

1993. Metal-detecting finds.
Early post-medieval weight, circular, on one face, crown above E.L. Elizabeth I, date? Weight 3.42gm.
Post-medieval button with funny protruding bosses.
?Medieval belt-end (unfinished casting) and metal from sprue still attached, and casting flashes etc. 'Belt-end' has large trefoil terminal and arched panel in centre.
