Summary

This is the site of the deserted medieval settlement of 'Wella', once part of a much larger village which had three parish churches. The earthworks on this site show the former churchyard, a hollow way and tofts, with possible building platforms. The church of All Saints is ruined, the surviving walls collapsed in 1989. A rare fragment of a Saxon cross was found near the church, and metal detecting has recovered multi-period finds of pottery and metalwork from the Roman to the medieval periods.
