Full description

1989. Metal detecting.
11th century bronze box mount in form of animal head, a bit Romanesque looking (heavily cleaned and polished), See Illustration (S1) and Article (S2).
Identified by S. Margeson (NCM) 1989.
This find was reidentified as a stirrup-strap mount by D. Williams in 1997, see Monograph (S3).

January to February 1993. Metal detecting.
Probably 14th century. Lovely medieval gilded half round casket mount, trefoil pierced lobe terminal at each end, elaborate leaf mouldings below each pierced lobe. Three square mouldings, one at each end and one in centre. Moulding decorated with cross hatching.
