Name:Site of medieval and post medieval settlement and multi-period finds

Summary

This was the site of a small settlement during the medieval period, and a house is first recorded on the site in the mid 14th century. The settlement site continues under NHER 24779. Field walking recovered prehistoric flints, including a Neolithic axe and an arrowhead, and pottery dating from the Roman to the post medieval periods, as well as post medieval roof tiles and clay pipes.

This site, and NHER 24779, is recorded as MED67 in (S2). A messuage is first recorded on the site in the mid 14th century, and by the 16th century a barn and a stable were present on the site. A mid 17th century century will describes the 'shop chamber, parlour, kitchen and chamber above'. This house was demolished in the late 17th century.
