Record Details

NHER Number:23657
Type of record:Find Spot
Name:Site of Roman farmstead and post medieval building

Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a scatter of prehistoric worked flints and pottery fragments dating from the Iron Age, Roman and medieval periods. A concentration of pottery and building material probably derives from a post medieval building shown on an old map, but now demolished. Mixed with this material are many Roman finds. These are evidence for the location of a Roman farmstead under the modern Cut-Off Channel.
