Record Details

NHER Number:23385
Type of record:Monument
Name:Iron Age and Roman settlement on field between Hythe Road and Hanging Drove

Summary

Fieldwalking as part of the Fenland Survey recovered a scatter of prehistoric worked flints and prehistoric, Iron Age and medieval pieces of pot. A concentration of Iron Age material was recorded and evidence of a possible hearth was noted. This is indicative of Iron Age settlement. A concentration of Roman material was noted during later fieldwalking before the construction of a pipeline. This is part of NHER 22364, a Roman settlement.
