Summary

A burnt fragment of an Early Saxon cruciform brooch head was found by metal detecting here. This may be evidence for an Early Saxon cremation in the area. Metal detecting has also recovered a medieval buckle from this site.

Full description

October 1984 or earlier. South side of former parkland southeast of Colney Hall. Metal detecting in ploughsoil.
Burnt fragment of Early Saxon cruciform brooch head: upper knob half-round, cast on; two other knobs missing, possibly separate knobs.
