Summary
This is the site of an Iron Age settlement, and fragments of Iron Age pottery have been found during field walking. The medieval pottery found during field walking suggests that this was probably the site of a settlement and a pottery works during the medieval period. Lava querns and spindle whorls of unknown date, prehistoric flints and fragments of pottery dating from the Roman to the post medieval periods have also been found during field walking and metal detecting.

Full description
1982 and 1983. Field walking. Ordnance Survey Field Geat Fransham 293. Varying conditions.
Extremely large numbers of sherds, including evidence of a pottery production site for local early medieval wares.
Grimston wares also found.
Many Roman sherds including Samian, Nar Valley, and Calcite gritted.
Worked Flints.
Ipswich and Grimston Thetford wares.
Post medieval sherds including glazed red earthenware.
Spindle whorl, lava fragments etc.

Many finds of Iron Age sherds of West Harling type; some earlier finds reidentified as such.

1 fragment lava quern with one tooled surface.
Lead pot mend, very roughly oval, ?Medieval.
1 bowl rim, 4 jar rims and 19 medieval unglazed.
