Name:Site of Late Saxon settlement, medieval settlement and multi-period finds

Summary

This is the site of a Late Saxon settlement, and fragments of Late Saxon pottery have been found during field walking. A settlement also developed here during the medieval period, and fragments of 13th and 14th century pottery have been found. prehistoric flints and pottery dating from the Roman and the medieval periods have also been found.

Full description

March 1983. Field walking. Ordnance Survey field Great Fransham 272. Good conditions and casual finds.
Large quantities of pottery; medieval, including Grimston and Early medieval, Roman including Nar Valley, Late Saxon including Late Thetford and Sandwich.
Worked flints.
