Record Details

NHER Number:20724
Type of record:Monument
Name:Possible medieval settlement

Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking recovered prehistoric worked flints, part of a Late Saxon brooch, part of a late medieval ring and a medieval buckle. Roman, Saxon, medieval and post medieval coins were found. Fragments of Roman, Saxon, medieval and post medieval pottery were also recovered. The concentration of medieval finds suggests this is an area of medieval settlement. This may have been associated with medieval clay extraction pits noted in the field.
