Summary

Fieldwalking recovered a number of post medieval finds These probably come from a post medieval house that was demolished. Metal detecting recovered Roman, Late Saxon, medieval and post medieval coins, human bones and a gold Late Saxon strap end. Two Anglo-Scandinavian strap ends have also been found.

Full description

28 February 1983. Fieldwalked.
For two and a half hours by R. Rickett (NAU) and K. Penn (NAU) after report that it had been ploughed for the first time in living memory. Scatter of post medieval building material in southwest and northeast corners. Latter from a house demolished in living memory. Only finds pre recent were one late medieval/transitional rim sherd of micaceous fabric. One bellarmine sherd 17th/18th century/, one 16th century? Stoneware handle fragment. One 17th century? stoneware base fragment. Lump of lead with hole. NCM 332.983 ex staff fieldwork.
