Summary

Metal detecting at this site during the period 1981-2007 recovered a range of multi period objects. Finds included Early Saxon tweezers, a Late Saxon plaque with a runic inscription, part of a medieval furniture fitting, two Roman dolphin brooches and a post medieval thimble.

Full description

1981. Middle Saxon, Roman, Late Saxon, medieval sherds found.
1982. Middle Saxon, Late Saxon sherds, medieval coins, ?Early Saxon tweezers found.
1985. Found with metal detector. Middle Saxon-Late Saxon metalwork (S3v and S4) and pottery.
1986. Roman, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon pottery, Late Saxon (S5, S6 and S7) and medieval metalwork found.
1988. Middle Saxon pottery excavated, (S8).

Also, a previously recorded Borre style disc brooch described again.
