Summary

A crushed 3rd century AD Roman gold ring with double wires joined in a 'knot of Hercules' and a bezel with clasped hands was found by metal detecting a molehill at this spot.

Full description

June 1979. South verge of road leading to Ling House, near Peddars Way.
Found in molehill with metal detector.
Gold ring: completely crushed; double wires joined in 'knot of Hercules' bezel with clasped hands.
Probably 3rd century AD (see (S1) in file).
Site visited by R. Trett (KLM); reports molehill still there but no other finds.
