Record Details

NHER Number:13042
Type of record:Find Spot
Name:Multi-period finds

Summary

Fieldwalking and metal-detecting between 1989 and 2014 recovered a Neolithic flint blade; Roman pottery sherds; Roman tile fragments; a large collection of Roman coins, including a small hoard of three coins and Roman, Late Saxon and post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman copper alloy unidentified object and a buckle; a Middle/Late Saxon strap-end and a post-medieval button and harness mount.
Undated rectangular enclosures identified from aerial photographs and previously recorded under NHER 13042 are now recorded under NHER 60529. The large number and type of Roman finds recovered from this site suggest that the enclosures are of Roman date and represent a settlement.
