Full description

Restored drainage windmill originally built by Englands of Ludham and dated 1874 which replaced another Hardley Mill to the south (NHER 15946). The mill last worked in the 1950s when its turbine was powered by tractors.

Important machinery remains in this brick tower mill, though boat-shaped cap almost gone and windshaft stolen. Complete turbine remains inside, upright shaft and half the crown wheel. Remains of belt and shaft hole to steam or diesel engine later attached.

Dated 1874 TWBPB. Upright shaft is of wood. Cast iron wallower and spur wheel also remain.
