Summary
A 17th century manor house, probably on the site of an earlier building, in which Queen Elizabeth I is reputed to have stayed. The house contains extensive 17th century wooden panelling. A nearby barn, dating from the 17th century, was also used as a dower house.

Full description
Great house, very elaborate, of 17th century date; probably no older remnants, despite claims.
18th and 19th century extensions. Much original and 18th century woodwork but some is from elsewhere.
Adjacent contemporary barn and cottages.
Listed grade II*.
