Name:Possible Bronze Age hearth and round barrow on Linger Hill

Summary

According to 20th century documents a Bronze Age round barrow and hearth were located atop modern Linger Hill. However, no sign of the mound was visible during a 1976 visit. Cropmarks of at least two possible Bronze Age round barrows are visible on aerial photographs in the vicinity, and have been recorded as NHER 29472.

Full description

Round barrow on Lingoc Hill, Shropham. Now Linger Hill, approximate grid reference 971 919.
Tumulus with urns and 'place for burning'.
See (S1) (copy in file).
Not visited by R. R. Clarke (NCM).

The sketch map given by (S1) illustrates only the general location of Lingoc Hill in relation to Shropham and is not accurate enough to mark up the barrow sites.

No sign of mound on hill. Finds perhaps made in digging large pit here?
