Summary

Two Iron Age burials, together with Iron Age pottery fragments, worked flints and animal bones, were found during road widening works in 1956. One was of a female, the other of an infant.

Full description

27 July 1956. Found during road widening 26 July 1956. Excavation NCM.
Two Iron Age A burials. Fragmentary female skeleton and child found in grave 1.5m (5 feet) long (head to west) 1.2m to 1.5m (4 feet to 4 feet 9 inches) below modern surface.
Infilling contained two fragments of Iron Age A pottery, flint flakes, charcoal and animal bones. One arm raised to head, knees bent.
