Full description

November 2007. Norfolk NMP.
The cropmarks of a dispersed group of fragmentary linear ditches of unknown date, probably representing the remains of former field boundaries and trackways, are visible on aerial photographs to the northwest of Weston Longville village (S1-S3). An Iron Age to Roman date has been suggested although this is not certain. The site is centred on TG 1056 1637.

Finds in the area indicate activity in this area from the prehistoric, Iron Age, Roman and medieval periods (NHER 7716, 7720, 15460 and 50277). The broad range of finds in the area makes it hard to attribute the cropmarks to any one period. Although it is possible, given the nearby finds and the fact that the cropmarks appear to bare no relation to the modern field boundaries, that they are Iron Age to Roman in date.
S. Massey (NMP), 09 November 2007.
