Name:Implement shed with granary loft and adjoining cottage at Home Farm, Church Hill

Summary

The shed, loft and adjoining cottage were originally part of Starston Place Farm (NHER 11090), a model farm built by Samuel Taylor of Stoke Ferry around 1840. These buildings were built of flint cobbles with red brick dressings and given low pitched hipped and gabled roofs of slate. The implement shed is a long range with a weatherboarded granary loft above, supported on timber posts, with a low brick wall dividing each bay. Adjoining the south of the implement shed there is a cottage of flint with red brick dressings, brick dentil eaves and a slate hipped roof. Other buildings originally part of the model farm include Home Farm Lodge (NHER 45614) and Pheasantry Cottage (NHER 48366)

Listing Description Excerpt:
"Implement shed with granary loft and adjoining cottage at Home Farm, Church Hill.
Around 1840, these are the remains of a model farn by Samuel Taylor, a gentleman farmer with architectual interests and a friend of J. C. London."
