Full description

East side Market Place. National Westminster Bank and Barclays Bank.
Originally one building, two storeys and dormers, six bays of which four project under a pediment. Central double doorway with three Doric columns, each side of which are arched windows (one now a door) with blank circles above. Parapet south of pediment is lowered in front of dormer and has stone balls at ends. North of pediment it has been rebuilt pre 1930. A picture dating to 1898 in (S1) shows the rebuilt parapet preserves an older form. As both parapets were then like this, though both had stone balls, it is the lowered one that has been altered. (S2) states that this was another assembly house but this may be a mistake.
See (S3).

August 1972. Listed, Grade II.
