Summary

During the period 1847-53 a Bronze Age palstave and axehead were recovered from Sporle and Palgrave. These supposedly came from the boundary between south and north Pickenham but the exact location has not been determined.

Full description

Boundary between south and north Pickenham.
Ribbed palstave with converging lines below stop-ridge, looped (174mm long).
Held by NCM, formerly part of Beloe Collection. See (S1), (S2) and (S3).
(Clarke's Class III) (Bryant says 1847 or 1851 - E. Rose (NAU)).
Fine bronze celt from here according to E. Farrer 1853 (D. R. Manning Collection Antiquities).
