Full description

April 2004, Norfolk NMP
A group of World War Two military structures is visible on aerial photographs in 1940-1 near the coast at Weybourne (S1-3). The site is centred on TG 1266 4335 and this point is also the location of a central structure measuring 7.5m by 6.5m. This has a track leading to it from the north. In 1940 a second smaller, 2.5m by 5m, structure is situated to the immediate south (S1). By 1941a fenced off enclosure, 60m by 47.5m, has been erected around the two buildings. The exact function of this central building is not known. This structure is situated to the south of an area of coastal defences at Weybourne and to the immediate east of the rifle range (NHER 38577-9, 32505), so it is probably related to the running of one of the surrounding posts. All of these sites are associated with Weybourne Camp to the west (NHER 11335).
