Summary

The site of the medieval church of St Peter, Foston. The church was demolished in the 16th century and rediscovered when skeletons and coffin lids were found in 1965. These probably mark the position of the churchyard.

1965.
Mr A. Flint in (S1) reports rediscovering Foston deserted medieval village on this site by skeletons and parts of coffin lids unearthed by rabbits 'close to presumed churchyard wall' at TF 653 088 (southern end of brickworks).

This is confirmed by KLM map which shows 'coffins' in centre of section south of road, and 'skeleton' under southern fence of brickworks.
