Name:Early Saxon inhumation cemetery and multi-period finds

Summary

Metal-detecting between 2002 and 2019 recovered a number of Early Saxon brooches and other metal finds suggesting that this is the site of an Early Saxon inhumation cemetery. Other finds include Metal-detecting between 2002 and 2019 recovered prehistoric flint hammerstones, a Mesolithic blade-like flake; medieval pottery sherds; Late Iron Age, Roman, medieval, and post-medieval coins, medieval and post-medieval jettons; aswell as Iron Age to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include an Iron Age brooches, a toggle, unidentified object, and a strap fitting; Roman brooches, bracelet fragments, spoon fragments, beads, finger ring, nail, key, and furniture stud; Roman/Early Saxon strap-end and tweezers; a Middle Saxon brooch and pin; a Late Saxon stirrup, finger ring, strap-end and casting waste; a Late Saxon/medieval balance; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories and harness fittings; medieval harness brooches, padlock fragments, a lace tag, pilgrim badge, and ring; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments; and a post-medieval spur, cloth seal, pin, and unidentified object.
