Type of record:Monument
Name:Late Saxon and medieval features on land off 1 High Street

Summary

An archaeological evaluation was carried out at this site by the NAU in 2000. The evaluation revealed the remains of a Late Saxon structure and ditch, and a medieval post hole and floor surface. There is evidence to suggest that the medieval building was built of stone as a robbed out wall was found nearby. Prehistoric flints, Late Saxon pottery, and medieval and post medieval pottery and other finds were recovered from the site.
