Summary

Metal-detecting between 1997 and 2019 recovered prehistoric worked flint, including two Neolithic polished flint axeheads; Roman, Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; a Roman roof tile fragment; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; medieval and post-medieval jettons; post-medieval tokens and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman brooch and stud; an Early Saxon brooch; a Middle/Late Saxon furniture fitting; a Late Saxon stirrup strap mount and horse bridle side-link; a Late Saxon/medieval harness fitting; medieval to post-medieval dress accessories and weights; medieval keys, horse harness pendants, part of a crucifix, thimble, seal matrix, cauldron fragment, scabbard chape and a box fitting; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy rings, copper alloy vessel fragments, a coin weight, dress hook, and the end-cap from a scale tang knife, in the form of a horse's hoof and post-medieval lead window cames and a furniture fitting.

Medieval box fitting or harness mount, complete and consisting of a long bar which is slightly U-shaped in section. The centre is facetted with a flat top along the centre; at either end is a square panel with criss-cross grooves. Beyond these at each end is another tiny length of faceting then a transverse moulding, then a rivet hole and then a long narrow knop. These kinds of bars, but with hinge loops, are used to hold horse harness pendants, but strip-like mounts are known to have been used to decorated boxes too.

1 medieval coin, 11 pottery sherds (1 glazed Grimston, 10 unglazed), 1 horse harness pendant (in form of bird, ?eagle, gilt), 1 candlestick shaft and 1 strainer.
1 ?medieval Auger spoon-bit.
1 medieval/post-medieval pottery sherd (LMT), 1 cauldron leg and 2 rings.
1 post-medieval coin, 1 token, 2 pottery sherds (GRE), 2 sword belt mounts, 1 buckle frame fragment, 2 buckle frames, 2 furniture escutcheon plates (elaborate), 1 belt mount and 1 cup weight (1/2oz).
