Record Details

NHER Number:34519
Type of record:Find Spot
Name:Mesolithic worked flints, Mesolithic/Neolithic flint axe and post-medieval metal objects

Summary

Metal detecting here between 1998 and 1999 recovered a number of prehistoric flints, including several pieces of probable Mesolithic debitage. Two flaked flint axes were also found; one of which is Neolithic or Mesolithic and the other of more certain Neolithic date. A post-medieval barrel tap fragment and a possible post-medieval harness ring were the only metal objects of note to be found. This site is one of several in this area to have produced Mesolithic finds and lies immediately to the north of what appears to be the main concentation of material (see NHER 19824).
