Full description
November 1998. Metal detecting.
A Middle to Late Saxon (9th to 11th century) disc brooch with a worn cross pattern in relief on the front was recovered during metal detecting. The cross is made from a pair of raised lines crossing another pair, and in the angles raised-line semi-circles protrude from the raised border. There is a catch plate on the reverse and the pin lug is missing. If worn with pin, the horizontal the cross would be a saltire.
