Type of record:Monument
Name:World War Two spigot mortar emplacement

Summary

A World War Two spigot mortar emplacement survives as an extant earthwork and structure. It has been identified on the ground and its concrete pedestal is also visible on aerial photographs taken in 1945. The angle-irons from the revetment of the accompanying pit are a rare survival. It was probably an outer defence for the military camp NHER 49672 located approximately 200m to its northeast.
