Name:Earthwork of possible trackway and windmill mound, Windmill Farm

Summary

Aerial photography from 1946 and 1973 recorded a hedged trackway leading to what may be a mill mound. The mound is around 20m circular and has a ditched enclosure. However a site visit in 1998 recorded that the trackway was now under a farmyard and the mound was partially under a new building.

Full description

January 1946. RAF aerial photograph.
Shows hedged trackway leading to mill mound which is a around 20m circular ditched enclosure, as earthwork.

30 August 1973. Ordnance Survey aerial photograph.
Shows slight evidence of ditch, and part of trackway.

September 1998. Visit.
Noted that trackway is now under farmyard and mound is part under new building and adjacent disturbed ground,
possibly a remnant as a low platform (0.1m high) around 20m across between this and straw bales.
Not convincing as surviving earthwork.
