Summary

Metal-detecting between 1993 and 1996 and again sporadically between 1999 and 2012 recovered Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery; Roman, medieval and post-medieval coins; a post-medieval token and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman possible Colchester two-piece brooch, an openwork key handle and a lead pot mend; a medieval buckle, probable monumental brass, lead weight and a flat circular seal matrix with a Latin inscription meaning 'Jesus is my love'; a medieval/post-medieval vessel fragment, crotal bell, spur fragment, hooked tag and lead ammunition and post-medieval dress accessories.

March 1999. Metal detecting. [3].
Medieval flat circular bronze seal matrix. The reverse has a bevelled edge but no rib, lug or loop. The central motif is IHC with a mark over the top for an abbreviation. Around the edge is *EST:AMOR:MEVS, meaning 'Jesus is My Love'. 14th century.
