December 2005. Norfolk NMP.
No pillbox was visible on wartime aerial photographs at this location. The area was quite clear from the aerial perspective so it is unlikely that the structure was concealed by vegetation or camouflage techniques. To the immediate north a possible large camouflaged structure was identified from the aerial photographs, which could have held a gun position (NHER 42239), but this does not correspond with the feature marked on the map (S1). To the immediate south is a spigot mortar emplacement two civilian air raid shelters (NHER 42238) and a possible pillbox or gun emplacement was identified further south along Beccles Road (NHER 42248).
S. Massey (NMP), 19 December 2005.
