Full description

1996. Metal-detecting.
11th century stirrup or box mount, sub triangular, missing apex with basal flange and single iron rivet just above. Relief
decoration of upward-looking animal (?). Cut away areas. Keyed as if for enamel.
Identified by H. Geake (NCM).
This find was reidentified as a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount by D. Williams in 1997, see Monograph (S1).
