Summary

A small number of Mesolithic/Neolithic and Neolithic worked flints were found during limited fieldwalking undertaken in 1989. Metal detecting between 1997 and 2008 recovered a number of coins and metal objects from the Roman, Middle Saxon, medieval and post medieval periods. This includes a Middle Saxon coin and a medieval seal matrix. Further metal-detecting in 2010 recovered a medieval or post-medieval vessel fragment and post-medieval buckle frame.

Mill Hill.

1989. Fieldwalking. Northeast of Peartree Cottage.
1 Mesolithic/Neolithic distal end of small blade.
3 Neolithic flint cores, one made on a fragment of polished axe.

Bronze seal matrix with rectangular-section handle pierced for suspension, tapering then flaring to an octagonal die engraved with 'L' and 'B' either side of a merchant's mark, all within a cabled border. Medieval. 15th century. See (S2).
