Summary

Fieldwalking and metal detecting in 1996 recovered a possibly Roman pottery fragment, and medieval pottery fragments. Metal objects recovered included a Bronze Age axehead, an Iron Age coin, Roman coins and a brooch, a Saxon pin and Late Saxon to post medieval finds including an Islamic coin of AD 892-907.

Iron Age, Roman, medieval, post medieval coins etc.
Late Bronze Age socketed axe. (S1).

3 September 1996. Area of ground 220 east-west x 150 north south in north east corner of field, centred at [1] walked at 15m intervals by A.Rogerson (NLA). Growing turnip crop. Uneven ground visibly ranging from nil with total crop cover, to very good weathered bare surface (8-9m wide uncultivated band around headland).
No finds concentrations noted. Very sparse spread of worn and small Medieval sherds (thirty two recovered including a few glazed), One small ?Roman grey,
One scrap shelly ?date. Finds NCM.
