Fieldwalking and metal detecting in 1996 recovered Iron Age, possibly Roman and medieval pottery sherds; Iron Age and Roman coins and Bronze Age, Roman, Late Saxon and post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Bronze Age axehead, a Roman brooch, a Saxon pin and Late Saxon to post medieval finds including an Islamic coin of AD 892-907.

June/July 1996. Metal detecting.

3 September 1996. Area of ground 220 east-west x 150 north south in north east corner of field, centred at [1] walked at 15m intervals by A.Rogerson (NLA). Growing turnip crop. Uneven ground visibly ranging from nil with total crop cover, to very good weathered bare surface (8-9m wide uncultivated band around headland).
No finds concentrations noted. Very sparse spread of worn and small Medieval sherds (thirty two recovered including a few glazed), One small ?Roman grey,
One scrap shelly ?date. Re-identified as 1 Iron Age pottery sherd, flint gritted, reduced with oxidised exterior, A. Rogerson (HES), 14 July 2017.
