Summary

Metal detecting in 1995 recovered a Late Bronze Age socketed axe. The axehead showed some recent damage to the cutting edge, and there were the remains of a wooden haft in the socket. There was much iron staining on the haft, and preservation of wood indicates that it was buried in a wet environment.
