Summary

Metal-detecting between 1994 and 2017 recovered medieval and post medieval pottery sherds; Roman and medieval coins, and undated and Late Saxon to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Late Saxon fitting, medieval copper alloy vessel fragments and a weight; a medieval/post-medieval casket key; and a post-medieval sword belt attachment and tap.

Full description

November 1994. Metal detecting finds east of parish church.
2 medieval cast copper alloy vessel rims.
Identified by J. Davies (NCM).
1 possibly Late Saxon 'fitting' squashed. Pierced lobe terminal and central rib.

Medieval copper alloy pyramidical finial from belt fitting.
Medieval copper alloy vessel rim.
Early post medieval sword belt attachment, hooked fitting (convex circular plate with pierced lobe above and hook below).
Early post medieval ?tap handle, cockerel on a shank (sheared off), or tobacco tamper. 18th century.
2 copper alloy rings of unknown date but both look ancient!
Medieval and post medieval sherds, including slip decorated Lead Glazed Earthenware.
Roman denarius.
2 medieval pennies.
