Summary

Fieldwalking in 1994 advance of development in this area recovered a concentration of prehistoric pot boilers and worked flints, as well as medieval pottery sherds, a number of post medieval metal objects, as well as the remains of a German aircraft. An evaluation in 1995 located a small pit containing burnt flint, charcoal and sherds of Middle Bronze Age pottery.

Large scatter including NHER 29283 and NHER 29284.

September-October 1994. Systematic Fieldwalking and Metal-detecting Survey.
Field survey of extensive proposed development area surrounding Harts Farm (Field 4).
Pot boiler concentration. Flints.
Medieval sherds.
Much post medieval metalwork.
Remains of German aircraft.

October 1995. Trial Trench.
Excavation of single trench in order to investigate burnt flint scatter. One small pit located containing burnt flint, charcoal and six sherds of Middle Bronze Age pottery.

August 2018. Watching Brief.
Monitoring of groundworks associated with construction of new artificial grass pitch immediately to the south of Kett Park Community Centre.
No archaeologically-significant features were observed and no finds were recovered.
A thin subsoil deposit survived beneath the topsoil across the area examined.
