November/December 1993. Cherry Tree Farm field. Metal detecting.
One medieval and one post medieval coin.

January/February 1994. Metal detecting. Area extended to cover whole field.
1) Roman, medieval, post medieval coins. See lists in file.
2) Roman bronze brooch, Dolphin type with spring mechanism, 1st century AD.
3) Foot of bronze Early Saxon cruciform brooch, catchplate on reverse. Narrow animal head.
4) Bronze Early Saxon oval buckle with pin looped over bar, end curved over loop.
5) 10th century Borre-style bronze disc brooch, broken lug. Catchplate missing.
6) medieval bronze purse bar fragment. Cross-hatched decoration and integral flange with pierced holes and knob terminal.
7) Fragment late Bronze Age socketed axe, (S1).
8) 13th century bronze belt-stiffener, rivet in each of two lobes and engraved central convex boss.
9) medieval bronze buckle plate, two rivet holes. Once decorated, very worn.
10) medieval bronze strap end buckle, with broken integral plate and pin looped through hole. Rivet near pin. Broken at rivet hole near terminal.
11) Early post medieval bronze sheet knife handle decorated with engraved lines in geometric fields.

Very interesting ?vessel lid, 'handle', Roman? Or Early Saxon? Rather like stylised animal head with oval opening in centre. Punched dots on one face.

Roman key handle, quatrefoil, openwork, spiral groove, extended shank for iron key, (S3). Polaroid (S2) in ifle.
Five medieval and five post medieval coins, one post medieval jetton.

Early Saxon small-long brooch, foot missing with narrow (damaged) headplate and single cast-in-one knob in centre. Engraved transverse lines on bow and vertical lines down centre of bow. Lug with iron staining on reverse.

15th century purse bar, part missing. Two loops below one arm. Linear decoration, grooves etc. Stylised animal head on each side of central shield-shaped boss which has diamond-hatching on one face.
Globular terminal with round-sectioned shaft. ?Purse-bar. Medieval.
