Full description

Found in about 1847. Small ivory rectangular plaque 10cm by 5.7cm (4 inches by 2 1/4 inches) elaborately carved. Christ in centre, hands in benediction. St Mary and St Peter on either side (names inscribed above). ?Angels below and five figures at bottom. (S3) calls 12th century.

Probably early medieval: Late Saxon, about 960 AD, says Talbot-Rice: post 1066 says Verurek.
