Summary

Metal-detecting in 1992 and 1993 recovered medieval pottery sherds; Roman and medieval coins; a medieval token and Roman to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman brooch; an Early Saxon disc fragment and unusual mount; a Middle Saxon pin; a Late Saxon stirrup-strap mount; medieval buckles, strap ends, seal matrices, book clasps, a brooch and purse bar fragment and post-medieval coin weights.

Full description

March 1992. Found with metal detector.
13th century gilded copper alloy buckle with moulded loop.
13th century buckle; moulded decoration on frame.
Identified by S. Margeson (NCM).

Early Saxon disc fragment.
Middle Saxon pin.
Late Saxon Box mount, 11th century. This find was reidentified as a stirrup-strap mount by D. Williams in 1997, see (S1).
Medieval circular seal matrix, 12th/13th century.
Medieval pointed oval seal matrix, 14th century.
Medieval twisted terminal of purse bar.
Medieval lead token?
Medieval book clasp, late medieval.

Three Roman coins.
Three medieval unglazed body sherds.
Early Saxon mount. Unusual. Looks like a Early Saxon brooch but has a spike on reverse for attachment. There is a rounded terminal to a narrow rectangular headplate and a bow which ends in a narrow spike.
