Summary

Metal-detecting between 1991 and 2002 recovered a wide range of objects, including prehistoric worked flints, a Bronze age copper alloy axehead, Iron Age, Roman, Saxon, medieval and post-medieval coins and post-medieval jettons. Metal-detecting in 2010-11 recovered a Late Saxon polyhedral copper alloy weight, a medieval/post-medieval harness or strap mount and a post-medieval gilt pendant.

Medieval sword chape with openwork cast front plate, and sheet back-plate. Front has castellated top, edge, heart-shaped opening above a transverse rib, and a trefoil opening in the 'scallop shell' base. Identified by S. Margeson (NCM).

Bronze signet ring with rope-like hoop and wide flat bezel. Seal matrix is octagonal and shows a bust facing left (i.e. seal's bust facing right). Internal diameter of hoop 21mm. 15th to 16th century.

Suspension mount for a medieval horse harness pendant, in the shape of an eight petalled flower, with central rivet-hole and border groove.
Two projections run out from one side and are folded around the remains of a hinge bar. White metal coated.
