Name:Silver groat of Henry VI minted in Calais

Summary

In 1990 a silver groat of Henry VI minted in Calais between 1422 and 1427 was recovered by a member of the public picking daffodils. Metal-detecting between 2018 and 2019 recovered Roman and medieval to post-medieval coins, post-medieval jettons and tokens; aswell as Roman, Early Saxon, and Late Saxon/medieval to medieval/post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman brooch; an Early Saxon sword scabbard chape fragment; a Late Saxon/medieval strap-end; a medieval harness hook; medieval/post-medieval dress hooks, a knife end stop, and a copper alloy vessel fragment; and a post-medieval sword belt.

Silver groat of Henry VI, annulets by neck. Annulet coinage dates to 1422 to 1427, Calais mint.
