Full description

August 1990. South of Cannell's Plantation. Metal detecting finds.
Early Saxon bow from cruciform or small-long brooch.
Middle Saxon 9th century strap-end with animal-head terminal and unusual half-round body of strap-end with 2 face-masks (facing each other) at top and bottom, and 4 transverse fields with central annulet in each one. The eyes and the face masks area shown in relief, the muzzle shown by a V-shaped engraved line.
Late Saxon copper alloy finger-ring with tapering pointed terminals.

Nice 13th century buckle, moulded ends to pin bar, and moulded pin rest, wire pin.
Medieval gilded copper alloy belt or harness mount, rectangular with central rib and openwork triangular terminal at each end, trefoil lobe at 'point', and scalloped outer edge.
Medieval harness pendant gilded copper alloy, broken suspension loop, 2 acorns in the round; very unusual.

?Late Saxon copper alloy heart-shaped plate with ring and dot.
13th century ring brooch, set with 6 collets with white paste. Pin missing.
Medieval copper alloy ?harness 'swivel'.
Late medieval square plate, central rivet hole, decorated with rocker arm ornament, compare with complete double-hooked fastener decorated with such a plate in (S1).
Late medieval belt-plate, folded sheet, secured at open end with 2 rivets. Decorated with repousse 'ribbing' and twisted pattern at folded edge.
Late medieval double-hooked fastener with square plate rivetted in centre and decorated with rocker-arm ornament. Hooked part made of folded sheet. Compare with example in (S1).
Probable medieval pin and collar, head missing.
