Name:Fine Roman brooch, multi-period metal objects and pottery sherds

Summary

Fieldwalking in 1991 recovered Iron Age, Roman, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds, while subsequent metal-detecting between 1992 and 2014 recovered Roman and medieval coins; a post-medieval jetton and token and Roman and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include a Roman brooch and ring; medieval seal matrices, a pot mend and an ampulla; medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments and a post-medieval cloth seal, button, buckle, bell, coin weight, weight and finger ring.

Dolphin type brooch (1st century AD)
Large example with wide wings decorated with fine vertical grooves at outer tips. Perforated catchplate broken. Pin missing.
