Summary

A 17th century rendered and partly colourwashed former pub, probably timber framed, now a private dwelling, one storey high with attics. On the north side is a later lean-to. Inside, many original features survive, including an inglenook fireplace. Parson Woodeforde, rector of the parish from 1776 to 1803 mentions 'The Hart Inn' several times in his famous diaries.

Full description

Old Hart; former Hart Inn then Eagle Inn, but listed as Spread Eagle. Listing Grade II (S1) describes as late 17th century probably timber framed. One storey and attic. Pantile roof. Off-centre entrance and large central stack.
(S2) describes as 16th century, with inglenook fireplace and original oven.
D. Gurney (NLA) states that the internal fittings remain intact since closure in 1964.
