Summary

Fieldwalking in 1987 and 1988 recovered a collection of Neolithic flint implements, post-medieval pottery sherds, an early post-medieval bronze buckle and a fragment of a late post-medieval lead horse figurine. Metal-detecting between 2005 and 2014 recovered Roman pottery sherds; a medieval coin and jetton and undatable, Roman and medieval to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include an undatable small spoon bowl; a Roman brooch; a medieval brooch, composite strap-end and weight; a medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragment and a post-medieval book clasp.

Full description

September to November 1987. Found in fieldwalking.
Flint core, twelve flakes, four retouched flakes, blade and nine flakes.

Seven flakes and one core, Neolithic (identified by J. Wymer (NAU)).
Early post medieval bronze buckle.
Late post medieval lead horse fragment.
Two lead-glazed earthenware sherds.

October/ November 1999. Metal detecting. Context 2 - at location [2] which includes NHER 24338. Finder's Field 18. [3].
Medieval composite strap-end. For most of its length is comprises two long tapering sheets of copper alloy, broken at the open end at the single rivet hole. The terminal has cut-outs, and at the end a third sheet decorated to resemble a shell. The three sheets are held together with a copper alloy rivet. 14th century.
