Summary

A moderate number of objects dating from the prehistoric to the post medieval periods were recovered during metal-detecting in 1987, 2012 and 2013 and fieldwalking in 2004. These finds include a prehistoric flint flake; Middle Saxon, Late Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery sherds; medieval coins and other Roman to post-medieval metal objects. The metal finds include Roman and Late Saxon brooches; a medieval copper alloy spur rowel and medieval/post-medieval copper alloy vessel fragments.

Full description

October - November 1987. Metal detecting. In two fields (now joined into one) south and southwest of church.
Roman duck brooch with traces of enamel.
Roman rectangular plate brooch showing fish in field of blue enamel; no enamel survives on fish apart from blue gills.
