Name:Iron Age and Roman coins, medieval Papal bullae and multi-period pottery sherds

Summary

Metal detecting and fieldwalking in this area during 1986-91 and 2005-6 recovered a large quantity of multi period metalwork and pottery sherds. Finds of note included a gold Iron Age coin, sherds of Saxon Thetford Ware pottery, a Roman decorated bronze stud and two medieval papal bullae – one of Pope John XXII (1314-34) and the other of Pope Gregory XI (1227-1241).

1986. Described on NCM card as 'large area' but only small cross marked on NCM map.
(Cross marks centre of indeterminate large area - W. Milligan (NCM) September 1986). Found with metal detector.
Roman metalwork and pottery.
Late Saxon Thetford type ware.
Medieval & post medieval coins and objects.
